1. Our Commitment to Accessibility
New Covenant Hosanna International Church (NCHIC) wants people of all abilities to be able to explore our website, learn about church life and contact our team. We welcome feedback about barriers and work to improve access as we maintain the site.
2. Accessibility Standards
Our improvement target is Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. This is a goal, not a statement that every page, document or third-party service has been independently verified as conforming. The guidelines describe how to make content perceivable, operable, understandable and robust.
3. Visual Access
You can use your browser’s zoom and display settings to enlarge content. We aim to provide readable text, useful image descriptions and clear controls. If an image description, text size or layout prevents you from understanding a page, tell us which page is affected.
4. Hearing and Captions
Our media pages link to church recordings on YouTube. Captions, transcripts and their accuracy depend on the recording and the platform. Check the player’s caption options. If a recording is difficult to follow, contact the church to ask what information or assistance may be available.
5. Using Controls by Touch, Mouse or Keyboard
The website uses standard links, buttons and form fields. We aim to make controls usable by touch, mouse and keyboard. Please report a control that is difficult to reach, activate or use with your input device.
6. Clear Language and Navigation
We aim to use clear Australian English, descriptive headings and consistent navigation. Page-specific sliding words introduce the purpose of each page. You can pause that movement using the control beside the strip. Contact the church if you need a detail explained.
7. Keyboard Navigation
Use Tab to move forwards through links and controls, and Shift + Tab to move backwards. Enter activates links; Enter or Space activates standard buttons. A skip link at the start of the page leads to the main content. Dropdown controls and media players may also use arrow keys or Escape. Tell us if keyboard focus is hidden, becomes trapped or does not reach a control.
8. Screen Reader Compatibility
Page headings, navigation areas, image descriptions and form labels help explain the content to screen readers. Their usefulness can vary by page, browser and assistive technology. If something is announced incorrectly or cannot be reached, please share the page address and the screen reader and browser you use.
9. Readable Text and Content
Most page information is provided as selectable web text, with headings to organise longer content. We aim for comfortable reading, useful link wording and consistent spacing. Browser zoom, text settings and reading tools may help. Text inside images or older documents may need additional support.
10. Colour and Contrast
We aim for text and controls to have sufficient contrast and for meaning to be clear without relying on colour alone. Please report text, focus indicators or controls that are difficult to distinguish against their background.
11. Layout and Design
The website uses responsive layouts for desktop, tablet and mobile screens. Layout checks include narrow screens, but individual combinations of screen size, zoom and browser settings may reveal issues. Tell us if content overlaps, is cut off or requires unexpected horizontal scrolling.
12. Multimedia Content
Use the controls provided by a recording’s player to start, pause, adjust volume or access captions when available. The hero slideshow and sliding words have pause controls. The sliding words also respect a reduced-motion preference where supported by the browser. Please report movement or media that you cannot control.
13. Site Navigation
The main navigation, dropdown menus, footer links and Sitemap provide ways to find pages. The main menu includes About, Ministries, Choirs, Media, Partners, Donation and Contact. If a link has an unclear label or takes you somewhere unexpected, send us the page address and link wording.
14. Using the Site on Mobile
On smaller screens, use the menu button to open navigation. You can enlarge content using your browser or device settings. Please report controls that are hard to tap, text that becomes unreadable or a layout that prevents you from completing a task.
15. Forms and Input Fields
The website has contact, prayer request and partnership enquiry forms. Labels identify each field, and an asterisk marks a required field. Enter only the information needed for your enquiry. If a form cannot be used with your browser or assistive technology, contact the church by email or phone instead.
16. Documents and PDFs
The Resources and Choirs pages link to the Kirundi hymnal as a PDF. An older document may not provide the same reading order, text selection or accessibility features as a web page. If you cannot use a document, tell the church which resource you need and ask what alternative assistance may be available.
17. Language and Internationalisation
The main language of this website is Australian English. The site also includes a Kirundi hymnal and references to the languages used in our church community. Browser translation can be useful, but its accuracy varies. Contact us to confirm language or interpretation arrangements for a visit.
18. Assistive Technology Support
People use many combinations of screen readers, magnifiers, voice controls and alternative input devices. We cannot guarantee that every combination works with every page. When reporting a problem, include the technology you use and what you were trying to do, if you are comfortable sharing those details.
19. Watching the Live Stream
Live Stream links to the church’s YouTube channel and selected recordings. Broadcast availability, captions, player controls and playback quality vary. Check the channel for the current broadcast and use the player options available for that video. Ask the church about a particular message if the recording is not accessible to you.
20. Visiting the Church in Person
We meet at 1821 Ipswich Road, Rocklea QLD 4106. Contact the church before your visit to discuss current step-free access, parking, seating, toilets, hearing assistance or other arrangements you need. Confirm details directly rather than assuming that a particular facility or service is available.

21. Testing and Auditing
Website maintenance includes content, link and responsive-layout checks. These checks help identify issues but do not establish full accessibility conformance. Further manual testing with assistive technologies and feedback from people using the website remain important.
22. Ongoing Improvements
We aim to address reported barriers and consider accessibility when changing content or features. Priorities include readable information, clear navigation, usable forms and controllable motion. We review current W3C guidance as part of this ongoing work.
23. Third-Party Content
Links and embedded services such as YouTube, Google Maps and social media are controlled by their respective providers. Their accessibility features and account requirements can change. If an external service prevents you from obtaining church information, contact us and explain what you need.
24. Feedback and Reporting Barriers
Use the Contact form and select Accessibility, email contact@nchic.com.au or call +61 412 275 620. A useful report includes the page address, what went wrong and the browser or device involved. Share only the details needed to explain the problem. The church reviews enquiries when the team is available; an immediate response is not guaranteed.
25. Contact Information
For an accessibility enquiry, contact New Covenant Hosanna International Church at contact@nchic.com.au or +61 412 275 620. Our address is 1821 Ipswich Road, Rocklea QLD 4106. Tell us the information or assistance you are seeking so the team can discuss the current options with you.
